Saadani National Park

The park is located 200 km North of Dar es salaam; The Park covers 1100 sq km and was gazetted in 2005. Park offers a combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna. Saadani is famous for its geographical location as bush meets the beach make it possible for a ‘’Whale to kiss an Elephant’’  Park is full of both marine and land wildlife, Presence of more than 40 species of fish and 30 species of large mammals  as well as birds and reptiles.

 

Saadani is also a home of green turtles, Humpback Whales and Dolphins, Wildlife in this park is also populated by Predators like lions and Leopards. There are also many Herbivores like Roosevelt Sable, Bushbuck, Giraffes, Elephants, Eland, bush pigs, kudu, and large heard of Buffalos.

 

The landscape is characterized by coastal forest, acacia woodland, open grassland, and mangrove forest especially at the river mouth.
